Under quarantine: what can I do?

2020 has become a very weird year already and we are not even close to June, with the start of the Covid-19 outbreak in china, the world shocked with the rapid transmission the World leaders have taken measures to prevent further infections


Portugal, Italy, Finland, Netherlands, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium and Finland are some of the countries that are currently under lockdown, with their population self-monitoring and self-quarantaining to help the health institutions to fight the Covid-19.


Spain has been on lockdown for almost 5 days now, families, friends and even tourists have been told to stay in their houses to avoid any infection or high-risk situations.


In Tenerife the situation is no different, only first need establishments are open while hotels are only open to maintain the tourists already inside, many have left the country and other just are waiting for it to fade out somehow.


As our jobs and some public places we used to go are closed, we found ourselves, maybe for the first time thinking: “what can I do?”; self-quarantining is important and key to prevent more infections but it is true that we are also developing some anxiousness and stress from being inside too much. There are many ways to keep yourself on the move from home, it doesn't matter if you’re already working from home or not.


If you are at home thinking what you can do then here are some possibilities you can look into:


  • Have a themed movie marathon! Enjoy all the Star Wars movies in chronological order (I,II & III included, yeah I know...), watch the Harry Potter series and get your heart broken again or go through the Disney classics with your family.



  • Practice Yoga, you probably won’t remember the last time you did yoga, so this is a good time to start again, find a nice youtube video and get the mat on the floor


  • Goodwill donations!, after your spring cleaning you will find yourself with boxes and boxes of things, donate them!, goodwill will give your stuff and second more active life, make sure to store all the things from the spring cleaning and drop them at a goodwill office or the containers (when the appropriate time arrives)


  • Themed game nights!, this is a particular favorite, deep down into the real state world with Monopoly, challenge your mind with Trivia Pursuit or just see your family breaking apart while playing UNO, whatever you decide this will make your afternoons more enjoyable.


  • Watch those old movies you’ve been avoiding all this time… Gone with the wind and Cleopatra are part of worldwide movie culture but we know the minute we see the 3 hour long movie run, we think twice in spending 3 hours of your life watching it, well now it’s different, dive into the most famous movies with the longest running time.


  • Try some origami, the art of folding paper is therapeutic as some people say, challenge your family to create cool birds, fish our simple boxes only using a piece of paper.


  • Do some spring cleaning!, from summer to winter we are specialist in collecting useless things so doing spring cleaning seems a ravishing idea, take out the old and organize your life, you’ll feel better







If you’re working during the week look at these one we have for you to do during the weekend


  • Watch the Oscar best picture nominated movies for this year, choose from: Parasite, Little Women, Once Upon a time in Hollywood, Jojo Rabbit, Ford Vs Ferrari, Marriage Story, 1917, Joker or The Irishman. We are sure you won’t be disappointed


  • Read that book you have near your nightstand


  • Watch documentaries!


  • Do some creative cooking! Find new ways to cook the usuals with more creativity and passion.


  • Take 5 minutes to meditate on facing a window or in your terrace and connect with yourself


No matter what you actually do in this quarantine it is important to remember that staying inside is a priority and we can do so much by just staying inse, so wash your hands, be respectful and conscious with your shopping and be grateful for the doctors and nurses fighting this battle.


Keeping yourself active during the quarantine.


As the quarantine is being officially extended in Spain, many people are wondering what they can do during this time.


You probably have seen every movie or series on Netflix and know the Friends theme song by memory…


In order to make this situation more easy going we try to distract ourselves and to have some time to relax, eat, watch movies or just hang out with your family or partner. Sadly it is not always like this, some people are finding it hard to remain at their houses due to their former busy schedules, they feel trapped and somehow hyperactive, a good way to let some steam out if of course exercise.





Whether you like it or not, keeping yourself on the move during this time is very important, as there is less movement in your daily schedule you could feel different, with less energy, more sedentary and of course the amount of sleep you lose while watching tv until 3 am it also has an effect on you.


There are really simple ways to keep yourself active during this self-isolation period.



  • Morning Yoga, it is widely known that yoga heals the body and the mind, doing it relieves you from pain, it calms you and helps with bad postures, during this quarantine doing yoga helps a lot, even if you’re working from home doing yoga before “heading” to work might reduce stress and help you focus more

You can also check Yoga with Adriene on youtube, she has a wide range of yoga instructions video that could easily fit with you


  • Pilates! We might enjoy binge watch netflix all day but that is no the only thing we can do, pilates is a nice way to pass time and a very fun form of exercising with family

  • Stretch your way out of the bed, keep your body safe of back and neck pains with some stretching after waking up, this could also apply to the Yoga routine, stretch your body and feel the weight on your shoulders being released

  • Create your own exercise routine! not wanting to do yoga or feeling not much of a fan with Pilates you can create your own routine or a different exercise positions, you can find anything on youtube, from a whole HIT set to basic positions for specific region you can do a whole week training exercising different parts of your body.

With these not so alternative ways to keep yourself busy and active during the quarantine you won’t waste a single minute, equally balancing your new daily plans with more healthy actions and balancing as well the work from home flow.
